The Treatment
Your practitioner will begin by discussing your health history and identifying the areas to be treated. The skin is usually cleaned, and oil may be applied if sliding cupping is being used to allow the cups to move smoothly. Cups are then applied using suction, either through heat or a mechanical pump, depending on the technique.
During the session, cups may be left in place (stationary cupping) or gently moved across the skin (dynamic or sliding cupping). You may feel a tight, pulling, or warm sensation, which should remain comfortable throughout the treatment. The duration of cupping typically ranges from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the individual and the areas being treated.
Once the cups are removed, your practitioner may assess the skin response and provide aftercare guidance. It is common for temporary circular marks or mild discolouration to appear, which generally fade within a few days to a week.
