gua sha
THERAPY
Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese therapy that involves using a smooth-edged tool to gently scrape the skin along specific areas of the body.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this technique is used to move stagnant Qi and Blood, supporting the body’s natural healing processes.
From a modern physiological perspective, Gua Sha has been shown to increase microcirculation, improve blood flow to the tissues and stimulate a local anti-inflammatory response.
It is commonly used to address muscular tension, pain, and areas of stagnation within the body.

your health and lifestyle. We explore areas such as sleep, digestion,
emotional wellbeing, and energy levels to identify the underlying patterns
behind your symptoms.
A tongue and pulse assessment will be performed to provide insight
into your internal balance of Qi, Blood, Yin and Yang. These details form the
foundation of a treatment plan designed specifically for you.
Preparation
Avoid heavy meals 1–2 hours before your session
Stay well hydrated before and after treatment
Wear loose, comfortable clothing for easy access to treatment areas
Avoid alcohol or excessive caffeine prior to your appointment
Inform your practitioner of any medical conditions, medications, or recent injuries
Let your practitioner know if you are pregnant or have any skin sensitivities
Avoid applying lotions, oils, or creams to the treatment area beforehand
Arrive with clean skin, free from excessive sweat or products where possible
Professional draping is always maintained for your comfort and privacy.
The Treatment
Gua Sha is performed using controlled, repetitive strokes along areas of tension or along traditional meridian pathways.
Pressure is adjusted depending on your condition, ranging from gentle to firm.
You may feel a warming or releasing sensation as circulation increases and tension begins to ease.
In some cases, visible redness or markings (known as “Sha”) may appear on the skin.
This is a normal and expected response, indicating increased blood flow and the release of stagnation.
